The news of the victory of Engr. Dave Umahi as the governor -elect of Ebonyi State did not come to many of his associates as a surprise. While congratulating His Excellency Engr. Dave Umahi, an associate,

Pastor Chris Nnadi noted that the election was a formal ratification of Ebonyi people's long quest for a credible leader with fear of God. According to Pastor Chris Nnadi, the governor -elect is highly passionate in alleviating the sufferings of his people because he is a grass root advocate. 'Ebonyians should be thankful to God for blessing them with His chosen' he concluded.

The spokesperson to the governor -elect, Mr Abia Onyike stated,' His Excellency expresses hearty appreciation to all Ebonyi voters, elders, women, youths, Ebonyi diasporeans and friends of Ebonyi for their support in ushering in a new dawn in the State'.

Mr Onyike also thanked the media community for a robust coverage of Ebonyi governorship election 2015.

Engr. Umahi polled a total of 289, 867 votes to emerged winner after defeating his closest rival, the Labour party candidate, Sir Edward Nkwegu who pulled a total of 124, 817 votes.

Announcing the result at the INEC’s headquarters in Abakaliki, the State Collation Officer and Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku stated “Engr Dave Umahi having scored the highest votes cast and satisfied the provisions of the law is hereby declared elected,”
