Uduaghan Harps On Voters Education

GOVERNOR Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has called for rigorous voters

education to reduce the number of void votes in the forthcoming general

elections.
Dr Uduaghan made the call on Thursday when the Peoples Democratic Party

(PDP) campaign train berthed at Warri South local government Area of Delta

State.
According to Dr Uduaghan, the fixing of all the national elections in one

day and that of the state elections on another day may confuse

unenlightened voters.
He reiterated that voters deserved to know how to vote well ahead of the

elections to avoid situations where there will be mix up of votes that

could lead to void votes.
“Voters education is very necessary for prospective voters to know how to

vote,” Governor Uduaghan said.
The Governor who introduced all the candidates of PDP in the general

elections to the crowd that gathered at the Warri Township Stadium for the

rally, called on Nigerians to re-elect President Goodluck Jonathan and

vote for Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as Governor of Delta State.

Dr Uduaghan emphasized that all the candidates of the PDP should be voted

for in the general elections for the gains of democracy to be sustained.

Senator Okowa in his speech promised to run an all inclusive government

where Deltans will be consulted and be well informed about government

activities.
Dr Okowa, canvassing the votes of the people, described PDP as the most

consistent political party in Nigeria with well defined programmes.

Governor Uduaghan had earlier introduced all the candidates of the PDP in

the general elections to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II who gave

them his royal blessings.
A former Minister of State, Defence, Dr Roland Oritsejafor, speaking at

the palace, described Dr Okowa as a credible candidate.

“This party, PDP has always been in government and the governorship flag

bearer has shown integrity, our expectation is very high and we know his

predecessors have laid a foundation which will make him take Delta to

greater heights,” he said.
Dr Okowa promised the monarch that his administration will consolidate on

peace and unity of Delta State, asserting, “God is with us in this

project, we thank you for receiving us.”
