Boko Haram: Gaidam Calls For Prayer

BEVERLY HILLS, January 08, (THEWILL) – As the Boko Haram insurgency continues unabated in the Northeast, Yobe State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has called on well-meaning Nigerians to pray to God for an end to the over five-year-old crisis.

Gaidam made the plea Thursday when he paid an assessment visit to Babbangida village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the state which the insurgents attacked last weekend.

During the attack by the insurgents on the village, several persons were killed and scores of buildings including the military base, the divisional police station and the Local government secretariat as well as the Emir's palace were set ablaze.

The terrorists also torched a shopping complex in the town and burnt several vehicles belonging to security forces and the local government council.

Gaidam, who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Abubakar Aliyu,during the visit, however assured that the state government would continue to work hand in hand with security agents so as to restore peace in the state.

The governor also promised to support the security agencies with the needed logistics in the fight against Boko Haram among other criminals frustrating the restoration of peace in the state and the country as a whole.

Expressing great concern over the unabating terrorists attack on innocent residents of the state, he called on well-meaning Nigerians to intensify prayers for the restoration of peace in the North-east and the country in general.

Expressing gratitude to the governor for the visit, the Emir of Jajere, Mai-Buba Mashio thanked the state government for the sympathy visit and support it has been rendering to security forces even as he prayed for God's intervention in the lingering crisis.
