Chibok Girls: 85 Days After Abduction, No Headway...

The Deputy National Mobilization Leader of the "Bring Back Our Girls Campaign", Yusuf Sheriff Banki has said that, 85 days after gunmen suspected to be members of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram abducted over 200 female students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, there is still no credible information from government on the whereabouts of the abducted Chibok girls

Yusuf added that, in the last 69 days that the movement sit daily at the a Unity Fountain Maitama Abuja, there has not been result from government to show that, they are serious about finding the missing girls.

Sheriff said, rather what the group have seen in the last 85 days however, was the escalation of frequent attacks on Nigerians with more mass killings, more abduction and mass destruction of properties of innocent citizens in every part of the state.

The Deputy National Mobilization Leader, who was speaking at a Press Conference in Maiduguri on Tuesday, called on the Nigerian Public and the international community to become more aware of the tragedy that had befallen the Chibok girls as a result of symbolism of the daily sit out of the Abuja "Bring Back Our Girls" Movement.

"Today 8th July, 2014 is 85 days since Chibok girls were abducted. and our security Chiefs informed the nation that rescue plans are at advanced stage. We called this press conference today to express our deep concern that inspite of numerous assurance the Chibok girls have not been rescued." Sheriff said.

He also said contrary to claims in some quota that, the group is only concern about the Chinok girls, Yusuf Sheriff said, the group does not stand for Chibok girls only but all voiceless people irrespective of religion, tribe, sex and location of Borno and other neighboring state.

According to him, "Chibok girls were abducted in mass from a boarding school they went with the hope of getting education even though the state is under emergency rule."
