Borno: Jaiz Bank Donates N10m Relief Materials To Boko Haram Victims

Relief materials worth N10 million were donated, Tuesday, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to victims of Boko Haram by Jaiz Foundation, a social responsibility arm of the Jaiz Bank .

The items donated include 200 bags of grains, 1,600 pieces of clothing materials for both men and women, 660 gallons of groundnut oil, among others.

The materials were handed over to the Borno governor, Kashim Shettima, by the Maiduguri Branch Manager of the bank, Alhaji Baba Ali Bukar Petrol, at the Government House.

Disclosing that the donation was part of the corporate social responsibility of the bank, Petrol told Shettima that :

'Your resolve to tackle the insecurity in the state and assisting the citizens of Borno State to rebuild their livelihood and strengthening their productive capacity is commendable, we therefore, appeal to you to continue the good works you are doing to the people of the state despite the security challenges.'

According to the bank manager, “As captain of the ship, you have sailed through rough waters and had taken the momentum to rise above board in providing succour and hope for the people and Jaiz Bank is ready to identify with you to move the state forward.'

Expressing gratitude to the bank, Governor Shettima appreciated the management and staff of Jaiz Foundation for what he described as the 'monumental gesture.'

He noted that Jaiz Bank and Dangote Foundation have always identified with the government and people of Borno State since the insurgency started.

He assured the Foundation that the materials will be distributed to the victims of the insurgency so as to alleviate their sufferings, especially with the approach of the Ramadan.

The governor also expressed his administration's readiness to continue to identify with the bank, calling on other institutions and corporate bodies to emulate Jaiz and Dangote Foundations.
