Prof. Ibrahim Njodi Is UNIMAID's New Vice Chancellor

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, May 21, (THEWILL) â€' The Governing Council of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Borno State, has announced the appointment of Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, the institution's Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, as the new Vice Chancellor with effect from June 3.

His appointment, according to a statement issued Wednesday by the University's Chief Information Officer, Malam Mohammed Tanko Ahmed, and obtained by THEWILL, was announced at the conclusion of the Special Meeting of the institution's Governing Council which held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Prof. Njodi was said to have scored over 90 percent in the selection interview conducted by the Joint Council and Senate selection board and this led to his recommendations to the council for the appointment as the Vice Chancellor.

The new Vice Chancellor, who replaces Prof. Mohammed Mala Daura, whose tenure expires on June 3, is an alumni of the University of Maiduguri, where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical and Health Education in 1985 and his M.Sc in Health Education from the same institution.

He also attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he bagged his Ph.D in Health Education in 2003.

Prof. Njodi joined the services of the UNIMAID in 1987 as a Graduate Assistant in the Department of Physical and Health Education, Faculty of Education and rose through the ranks to become a Professor in 2006.

A widely published academic who has held various academic and administrative positions in the University, the new Vice Chancellor is a certified teacher registered with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) and also a member of the Nigeria Association of Health Education Teachers.
