Stop Boko Haram, Don't Play Politics Over Terror, Lawmaker Tells President

HONOURABLE ROTIMI MAKINDE BEVERLY HILLS, February 26, (THEWILL) - The Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Human Rights, Honourable Rotimi Makinde has charged President Goodluck Jonathan to crush the Boko Haram and bring its sponsors to justice saying, 'It is most irresponsible for any government under any guise to play politics with the lives of innocent and defenseless souls.

' The lawmaker in a statement Wednesday following the senseless killings of over 40 teenage students inside their dormitory at a federal government college in Yola in the wee hours of Monday urged the President to 'hold the bull by the horn' and rescue citizens from the menace of the Boko Haram.

The full text of the statement reads: n n Jonathan Must Stop Boko Haram Menace In yet another deadly attack, Boko Haram was on rampage Monday night at a secondary school in Yobe State, killing 29 students with scores seriously wounded.

In the massacre, the insurgents stormed the Federal Government College (FGC), Buni-Yadi, a boarding secondary school at about 11.

They also razed buildings within the school premises.

The Islamist sect had killed hundreds of people in the orgy of violence unleashed on Gwoza, Izge and Bama in Borno State this month alone, the development forced Borno governor Kashim Shettima to visit Aso Rock, Abuja twice in one week to intimate President Goodluck Jonathan of his frustration in dealing with the insurgency.

Unfortunately nothing significant has been done by our President to guarantee safety of lives and properties particularly that of the vulnerable groups in the troubled regions.

As a concerned stakeholder and patriotic Nigerian, I will not fail to add my voice in condemning this dastardly act.

I see this as a wake up call to all our security agents to redouble their efforts and chart a new strategy to combat terrorism and win the war against it.

As a matter of fact fishing out the sponsors and perpetrators of this vicious, abominable, wicked, satanic and inhuman act can only be seen as the only acceptable condolence to the bereaved families.

In my opinion it is most irresponsible for any government under any guise to play politics with the lives of innocent and defenseless souls.

This is the time for the President to hold the bull by the horn and deliver Nigeria from the hands of blood-sucking sect known as Boko Haram.
