Yobe Governor Appoints Six New Commissioners

Six Commissioners have been sworn in by the Governor of Yobe state, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam in Damaturu the state capital.

The commissioners are Engineer Mustapha Gajerima, Transport and Energy, Dr. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa Health, Alhaji Mohammed Samaila Nguru Higher Education, Hon. Senator Adamu Garba Talba Agric, Alhajii Tijjani Zanna Zakariya Youth Development and Alhaji Bunu Zanna Bularafa sports.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Ibrahim Gaidam urged the commissioners to work closely with their permanent secretaries who are the accounting officers and also to make sure that all other officers and staff are carried on board so as to achieve the desired objectives.

He said "the new commissioners need to note that by the nature of their appointments, demonstration of unalloyed loyalty, grassroot connection, sensitivity to the interest and image of government are of paramount importance, if they are to justify the confidence reposed in them through this appointment".

Governor Gaidam urged the commissioners to ensure effective management and judicious utilization of ;public funds in order to ensure the best value for money in the provision of service to the people.

He advised them to undertake the supervision of on-going projects in their respective ministries and be in a position to give full account of the level of execution of projects at any given time.

The governor then assured the people of Yobe state of the present administration's commitment and determination to conduct local government elections in the state come 28th December, 2013, as arrangement by the State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) has been concluded.

He used the occasion to appeal to all registered political parties and other stakeholders to join hand with the State Independent Electoral Commission in order to achieve the desired objectives.
