ESG votes N145m to expand Enugu Magistrate Court

The Enugu State Government has approved N145 million for the construction of eight new court halls at the Enugu Magistrates' Court complex.

The Commissioner for Information, Mr Chuks Ugwoke, announced the approval in Enugu on Thursday while briefing newsmen at the end of the state executive council meeting.

He said that when completed, the new court halls would aid speedy dispensation of justice.

Ugwoke said it would also alleviate accommodation problems faced by magistrates in the state.

He said the council also approved N63 million for the rehabilitation of Ukehe water scheme in Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area to restore water supply to six communities in the area.

The commissioner also disclosed that the council mapped out N34.6 million to underwrite the balance of car loans in respect of 23 deceased traditional rulers in the state.

“Twenty-three traditional rulers in the state have died without off-setting their car loans. The executive council, therefore, approved N34,624,999 to underwrite the balance of the car loans,'' he said.
