HE RECEIVED ONLY ONE REPORT ON YAR'ADUA

As the dust kicked up by the surprise return to the country of ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua is yet to settle, the Presidency said yesterday that Acting President Goodluck Jonathan received only one medical report on Yar'Adua all through his 90-day sojourn in Saudi Arabia. The special adviser to the president, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi made the clarification in Abuja yesterday, pointing out that his earlier statement on the issue did not indicate that Jonathan received more than one medical report on the president.

'Further to my interview with State House correspondents yesterday, I wish to clarify that only one medical report on President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was sent to the Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan by the chief physician to the president, Dr. Salisu Banye, through the Nigerian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

This was on Friday, February 19, 2010', he further stated, Adeniyi made it clear that the acting president received no other medical report before or after that date.

Meanwhile, indication emerged yesterday that Acting President Jonathan has not been able to see the president two days after his return to the country, even though both leaders are staying a few meters away from each other.

A highly reliable source in the Presidency told Saturday Sun that the possibility of Jonathan seeing Yar'Adua had almost been foreclosed because it was clear to most people that everything was being done to ensure that he (Jonathan) would not see the president in the state in which they brought him back.

'Even the acting president is almost giving up the idea of trying to see the president. He understands the politics being played and the desperation of the people behind it and so he is not likely to push it any further', our source said.
