6 NEW JUDGES FOR ANAMBARA
Six new Judges were sworn-in in Anambra State. The judges who were sworn-in in the Exco Chambers of the Government House, Awka include five High Court Judges and one Judge of the Customary Court of Appeal.
The new Judges are Justice Nkechi Nwenyi, Justice Charles Okaa, Justice Peace Oti, Justice George Nwankwo, Justice Bennedict Ogbuli and Justice Cordelia Chukwura. The six new judges bring to twenty the number of judges in the State.
Governor Peter Obi in his speech observed that the State judiciary is setting pace in promoting the judicial process and dispensation of justice in the country and expressed satisfaction with the cordial relationship between the Executive and the Judiciary. He urged the new Judges to key into the collective efforts to rebuild and uplift the State.
The Governor assured that his administration will sustain adequate funding of the judiciary and disclosed that new vehicles for the new judges have already delivered while arrangement for their accommodation is being concluded.
The State Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi enjoined the new judges to work hard to ensure that the common man has access to justice. Justice Umeadi thanked the Governor for remaining responsive to the needs of the Judiciary without interfering with the judicial process.
The Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary and member representing Ontisha 1 Constituency, Mr. Chigbo Enwenzo urged them to discharge their duties without fear or favour to serve the collective interest of the people.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor, Mrs. Chigozie Abiakam noted that Governor Obi administration has brought a new dawn to the judiciary that has brought access to justice to the door steps of the common man.
Responding on behalf of others, Justice Nkechi Nwenyi pledged to discharge their duties effectively and abide by their Oath of Office.
Also speaking, another new Judge, Justice Charles Okaa said he would bring his years of experience to bear on the course of his duty.
