Mr P Questions Value Of Indigenous Languages After Kids' French Fluency

Nigerian singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has sparked a debate after questioning the value of Nigeria's indigenous languages.

The former member of the now-defunct PSquare group expressed admiration for his children's fluency in French, hinting at the possibility of buying a property in the city.

When a fan asked if his children could also speak Igbo, Mr P dismissed the question, asking what Nigerian languages had helped.

The singer's response has since drawn mixed reactions online, with many questioning his stance on indigenous languages.

Mr P wrote on X: "Still in Paris! Watching my kids speak French so effortlessly makes me think… maybe it's time to own a crib here in Paris."

The fan asked: "Hope they can speak Igbo, too?" Mr P responded: "And who naija language help? Make I hear word abeg."
