Odumodublvck Reiterates Hip Hop Is Dead Claim Following Artistes Omission From Spotify's Nigerian Monthly Listeners
Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has emphasized the claim that "Hip Hop is dead." Afrobeats star, Wizkid had also previously made the claim which generated criticisms.
The singer's latest postulation was a direct reaction to a list curated by streaming platform, Spotify to showcase Nigerian artistes with the most monthly listeners.
Surprisingly, no Nigerian Hip-hop star made the list, with singers such as Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Rema dominating the list.
Reacting to it, Odumodublvck maintained that, “Hip Hop is dead."
Self-acclaimed African giant Burna Boy clinches top spot with 40.68 million listeners, Grammy-award winning singer Tems made second spot with 40.64 million listeners.
Calm down crooner Rema made the 3rd spot with 29.43 million listeners, while MAVIN signee Ayra Starr and Afrobeats star Wizkid take the numbers 4 and 5 spots with 16.84 and 16.81 million listeners, respectively.
Omah Lay with 11.24m listeners made the 6th spot, Davido with 10.83m listeners clinched the 7th spot, while Love Nwantinti crooner CKay made the 8th spot with 10.71m listeners, YBNL signee Fireboy DML made the 9th spot with 9.23m listeners, and Asake with 8.69m listeners made the 10th spot.
Odumodublvck's claim didn't sit down well with netizens as it generated mixed reactions on social media, with many diffusing his claim as false.
