Do Not Renege On N5, 000 Stipend, Aisha Buhari Tells APC
BEVERLY HILLS, November 10, (THEWILL) – The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has appealed to the ruling party All Progressives Congress (APC) not to renege on its campaign promise of paying N5, 000 to 25 million unemployed Nigerians and giving school children one free meal a day.
Mrs. Buhari's charge to the party was conveyed in a Tuesday statement by spokesperson, Adebisi Olumide Ajayi.
The Senate, which is controlled by the ruling APC, had blocked a vote on the matter last week when it came up for debate, prompting widespread condemnation from Nigerians across all walks of life.
“The APC is a party of integrity and had assured Nigerians during the campaign that it would pay 5,000 Naira each month to 25 million most vulnerable citizens,” she said.
Mrs. Buhari urged Nigerians to be patient with the APC government as the change they had been yearning for had come to stay, the statement added.
