Tele Ikuru: Dishonourable Exit Of A Known Mole

The All Progressives Congress [APC], Rivers State Chapter received the news of the defection of the Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru with a huge sigh of relief due to the need to channel our efforts to value-adding enterprise at this time than continue to endure the damage a mole was causing to the system.

It would be recalled that right from the very day that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi led our people into the APC as a result of the impunity of the Federal Government and their agents in Rivers State, Engr. Tele Ikuru, his uncle and a member of the PDP National Executive Committee [NEC], Prince Uche Secondus, Evans Bipi, Dame Patience Jonathan and other PDP goons hatched the plot to have Governor Amaechi impeached for Tele Ikuru to take over as Governor.

Hardly had the impeachment saga failed than Tele Ikuru embarked on a two-pronged plot with his uncle and political godfather, Prince Uche Secondus and other PDP goons.

Firstly, Prince Uche Secondus asked Engr. Tele Ikuru to tarry on and work to secure the Governorship ticket of the APC before defecting to the PDP in order to destroy the APC. The alternative plot was for Tele Ikuru to angle for the South-East Senatorial ticket of the party should the incumbent, Senator Magnus Abe get the Governorship ticket.

When the two plots failed to materialise, Engr. Tele Ikuru and his PDP collaborators were now faced with the ignoble task of choosing the right time to strike and embarrass the APC and its leader in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for whatever reasons that tickle their fancy.

Despite subdued protestations from prominent Andoni stakeholders, the Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi continued to give the right of first refusal to his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru on all matters of privilege and rights.

It must be stated that the party had become wary of the antics of the Deputy Governor of late given the huge evidence of disloyalty that has piled up against him in recent weeks. Therefore, his action last Sunday did not come to the leadership and members of the APC as a surprise.

The APC joins our leader, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to wish Engr Tele Ikuru the best of luck as he continues his political journey in life. However, we advise him to be wary of choosing the path of perfidy lined by treachery and betrayal.

It is important to state that the departure of Engr Tele Ikuru is absolutely of no consequences to the APC in Rivers State as it is glaringly clear to all that he found himself in our midst alone and alone has he departed. The talk about Ikuru leaving with some Commissioners and State legislators fly in the face as he remains a political paperweight. There is absolutely nothing to that effect except in the warped minds of the promoters of such glib and idle talk.

The reasons adduced by Engr Tele Ikuru for taking a walk suggest a man with split personality whose heart and soul abandoned long before his political trip in the wilderness to nowhere. Indeed, we empathise with the Deputy Governor and curious how he came about his accusation that we are rebels and insurgents.

Finally, to the APC in Rivers State, the exit of Engr. Tele Ikuru comes with great relief from the burden of unnecessary and worthless distraction his presence imposed on us over these past years. The fact remains that we saw the Deputy Governor stroll into the APC alone and we have watched him stroll into the dark of the political night alone. Fare thee well, brother!
