Ahead of PDP Primary, Ihedioha Decries Negative Campaigns

Frontline governorship aspirant in Imo State and deputy speaker of the

House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has decried campaign of

calumny targeted at him by some aspirants seeking the ticket of the

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the primary due to hold Monday December

8th, 2014. The deputy speaker also raised the alarm over rising negative statements

against the party that may put PDP in untoward light in the eyes of the

Imo public ahead of the general elections, calling on leaders and elders

to call those involved to order. In a statement today by the Emeka Ihedioha Governorship Campaign

Organization signed by its Director General, Chief Chris Okewulonu, Rt.

Hon. Ihedioha noted that he has worked very hard to secure the support and

endorsements of delegates to the primaries and key stakeholders of the PDP

especially in Imo State while some aspirants stayed aloof.

According to him, “it is noteworthy that while Rt. Hon. Ihedioha was

working very hard on the field and seriously marketing himself to party

elders, leaders, and faithful across the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo

State these past years, these aspirants were exuding in false pride and

unfortunate history of political accident in our polity,” adding: “A

resort to maligning Rt. Hon. Ihedioha is perhaps the only response left

for the sponsors of this plot to secure little prominence and spurious

gains in their political standing ahead of the primary having failed in

name dropping, peddling empty togas of 'anointment from above' and signs

that political accident would not be an option in the primary election.”

Part of the statement reads: “It has come to the notice of the Emeka

Ihedioha Campaign Organization plots by some desperate aspirants to the

governorship ticket of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

in Imo State to bring the party down should they lose at the primary.

“The plots involve; deliberate dissemination of false information,

misinformation, propaganda and character assassination by those who have

no response to the unassailable frontline standing of Rt. Hon. Emeka

Ihedioha, Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives to clinch the

governorship ticket at the party primary on December 8th, 2014.

“Consequently, the aspirants have instructed their agents, fronts and

wayfarers to unleash a deluge of garbage on Ihedioha in the media,

especially social media since the last few days. I wish to alert the PDP

leadership, delegates, and stakeholders to this mischievous plot and warn

that it could get worse due to their desperation, until the primaries are

over. “For the record, Rt. Hon. Ihedioha has been a major pillar of strength of

our great part, rallying, mobilizing and providing resources and direction

to rebuild the PDP after the painful loss of executive power in the state

in 2011. He has stuck with the party through thick and thin knowing that

as a founding member, his political fortunes are tied to the PDP unlike

some milk and honey chieftains whose membership at any point in time is

out of convenience. He has made his marks and paid his dues and indeed

delegates to the primaries know this too well to be swayed by the knee

jerk antics of these politicians. “Now that it has dawned on them that Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha (Omenke

ahuruanya) will by the grace of God, emerge victorious at the primary,

they have resorted to acts unbecoming ‎of true party loyalists and

threatened to pull down the roof over the Umbrella. This will not succeed.

Rather, PDP will emerge stronger and more charged to reclaim Imo State

from the rapacious APC government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha.”
