Nigerian Immigration set for fresh recruitment

A year after the unfortunate recruitment that led to the loss of several lives, with many others injured, the Federal Government of Nigeria has concluded arrangements to conduct fresh recruitment for new personnel into the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS).

This was confirmed on Monday in a statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO), NIS, Chukwuemeka Obuah, after advertorials were placed in major media outlets for that purpose.

“The Presidential Committee To Assist In Immigration Recruitment on Monday  February 9, 2015 placed advertorial in some national dailies requesting applications from suitable Nigerians for enlistment into the Nigeria Immigration Service starting from  9th February 2015 to 22nd March, 2015. Note the application is free and must be done online,” he stated.

It could be recalled that the last attempt to conduct a recruitment test for applicants nationwide on Saturday, March 15,2014, had led  to the death of over 20 applicants with several others injured.

A reliable source told TheCitizen that the recruitment exercise is just a formality, as most of the existing vacancies have been filled with candidates of politicians of the ruling party.
