Mr Alpho Nweze, Chairman PDP in Nsukka LG has confirmed that the party earlier zoning of chairmanship candidate to Ede-Oballa/Opi has been cancelled.
Nweze said in Nsukka on Friday that the stakeholder's decision was to ensure justice since it is the turn of Eha-Alumona to produce PDP chairmanship candidate for Nov 2, council poll
'Initially it was zoned to Ede-Oballa/Opi but the party new decision was arrived during its stakeholders meeting with Gov Sullivan Chime.
'In the meeting Chime directed that Eha-Alomuna should be allowed to produce PDP chairmanship candidate in Nsukka local government in the Nov 2, council poll in the state in the interest of justice.
Mr Emeka Ugwuoke a chieftain of PDP and former Nsukka council vice-chairman said the re zoning of chairmanship to Eha-Alumona was as result of Chime's intervention,
According to him, Chime said during a meeting with stakeholders from Nsukka local government that it would amount to injustice if somebody from Ede-Oballa become next PDP chairmanship candidate since the immediate LG chairman Mr Dan Ugwuja is from Ede-Oballa.
'If the slot is for Nsukka east development area, it should be rotated among the electoral wards and not in one ward, 'chime was quoted as saying.
Chime according to Ugwuoke during the meeting endorsed Mr Charlie Ugwu, the only candidate from Eha-Alumona as the party chairmanship candidate in Nov 2, council poll in the state, he said.
Ugwuoke who is from Eh-Alumona said the decision of Chime had brought jubilation and sense of belong to people of the area who had been complaining of marginalization by the party.
'We are happy that God has intervened and wiped away the tears of my people.
'Without the governor's intervention Ede-Oballa, the country home of Enugu State PDP chairman, Mr Vita Abba could have succeeded in producing the next party chairmanship candidate, 'he said
With the development, the Nsukka PDP chairmanship primary on Saturday may be a mere formality.
