The Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Unit of the Delta State Ministry of Justice has condemned the alleged inhuman treatment, molestation and physical assault meted on a mentally challenged Woman at Boji-Boji Owa, by a former aide to the Delta State Governor, Friday Eluro who has since been sacked and currently cooling off his heels in Police custody.

Director of the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Unit of the Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Uche Akamagwuna who led a team of female Lawyers from the Ministry to Boji-Boji Owa on Tuesday, on behalf of the State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, raised her voice against all forms of violence and sexual abuse.

She said the victim, even though she is suspected to be mentally challenged, is protected by law as a free citizen with all rights and privileges.

Akamagwuna condemned the physical abuse of the female as seen on the video which went viral on the social media networks, where the former aide to the Governor was seen brutalizing the victim after been stripped naked and tied up with cords.

She hailed the Governor for immediately disengaging Eluro, saying that he was not proper and fit person to hold public office as his action was repugnant and distasteful for dehumanizing the helpless woman.

The Director who called on the relevant security agency to conduct a thorough investigation and charged the culprit court to face the consequences of his action, reiterated the Ministry’s resolve to diligently prosecute him and ensure that justice is not just done but must be seen to be done to forestall future occurrence.

She warned against sexual violence and all forms of abuse, molestation and assault of defenseless citizens, saying that the Ministry will not hesitate to prosecute once a primia facia case is established against offenders.
