Plateau PDP Crisis: Jang Risks Being Banned From Participating In Primaries

JOS, PLATEAU, JUNE 02, (THEWILL)†- The crisis in the PDP in Plateau State is nowhere near being resolved as the caretaker committee set up by the national secretariat of the party has threatened to deal with those who refuse to cooperate with it in its task of forming a new exco for the party in the state.

THEWILL learnt that the caretaker committee may deny those who refuse to cooperate with it forms to participate in the primary elections of the party in the state.

The state governor, Jonah David Jang is opposed to the caretaker committee and risks being sanctioned by the party in the forthcoming primary elections of the party.

The plateau PDP has been in crisis since the formation of the Prof. Dakum Shown led executive committee, as it was said to have been foisted on the people and not democratically elected.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, also confirmed to THEWILL in Jos†that the Plateau PDP is among the seven states in the federation where no congress was†held after which the national secretariat of the PDP dissolved the exco and constituted a caretaker committee to conduct a fresh congress for the party in the state.

But Prof. Shown who enjoys the support of the state governor, Jonah Jang, went to court to challenge the dissolution of his exco. The court ruled in his favour but the caretaker committee appealed the ruling and filed for a stay of execution while the appeal is pending to enable it complete its assignment.

A member of the caretaker committee and former governor of the state, Sir Fidelis Tapgun, has warned that†if those who are not cooperating with the caretaker committee make it impossible for them to conduct a fresh congress for the party, then the PDP national secretariat will have no option but to hand over the materials for the party primaries to†the committee.

He said then it will be clear to those who are now been deceived as to who actually controls the affairs of the party in the state and advised all members of the party to cooperate with the caretaker committee.

We are not surprised by comments credited to Mr. Fidelis Tapgun as regards the crisis in the PDP. As a one time Governor, Tapgun's achievement was the only statue he built around Terminus Market in Jos which has been incidentally removed by the present administration. Definitely he will be angry. He sold BARC farms to his cronies, sold every valuable thing Plateau had, the remaining is what his Successor Dariye liquidated. But the Lord is our strength. If Tapgun does not give the Present Governor ticket to run under the PDP, he can still win under another political Party. Let them try it.

Jonathan Pwajok, i can see that you are one of those people Jang is blinding with money. Open your eyes to reality, Plateau state is dying, do your research before you talk nonsense about people that have ruled Plateau state with with their hearts. Jang is a grumpy old man that wants to mold our state to the dump he has in his head. I personally think he has cerebral issues. Look around you, and ask yourself if Plateau state has gotten worse or better. Usually when a man takes over a barren land, he nourishes it with every God given thing he has, so when his time is done, great achievements and goals have been met. People are dying, and hungry like never before in 2010, worse than past years, does that make sense? HELL NO, and you are running your mouth about the past, when the present has brought this apocalypse upon us. The government is to serve the people, and not the other way around. Lar, Tapgun, and the others(though not perfect) have done more in their time than this lunacy Jang has brought to us. Plateau is a simple state, with loved people, and so much, but now in jang's reign, we can't say who we are anymore.
