BAYELSA GOV COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF SLAIN MILITARY PERSONNEL

The Bayelsa State Government has condemned last week's brutal killing of military personnel by pirates operating on the Brass and Ogbia waterways in the state.

The Governor of the state, Henry Seriake Dickson warned the perpetrators of the evil act and their sponsors to desist from perpetuating evil in the state.

A statement from the Governors Spokesman, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the governor commiserated with the families of the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces, police and civilians killed by the pirates, praying God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The statement said the governor condemned in strong term, the killings and assured Bayelsans of the resolve of his government to tackle insecurity head-on and flush out cultists and criminals from the state.'The governor is working in consonance with the various security outfits, such as the JTF, Police, State Security Service (SSS) to be on top of the situation,' the statement added.

The spokesman quoted Governor Dickson as expressing optimism that the pirates would be apprehended and brought to book, according to him, his government has zero tolerance for crime and criminality. The governor advised citizens to be more vigilant and report activities of cultists and criminals to the appropriate authorities.
