DELTA HOUSE PASSES 2012 BUDGET

Asaba- Delta State House of Assembly, yesterday, passed the state's 2012 budget proposal with over N54 billion increase.

The increase followed the adoption of House Finance and Appropriation Committee's report.

The state's budget as passed,  stands at N437.2 billion with N180.8 billion as Recurrent Expenditure while Capital vote is N256.3 billion.

Finance and Appropriation Committee of the House, headed by Mr. Daniel Mayuku, in its report, explained that 'the increases recorded are attributed to under allocation of funds to burning budget heads that ought to be properly addressed by the respective ministries, departments and agencies, MDAs.'

State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan had presented a budget proposal of N383.39bn for 2012 fiscal year to the House, promising to apply 'stricter control over expenditure.'

Uduaghan's presentation was made up of N169.82bn for Recurrent Expenditure and N213.57billion for Capital Expenditure. The governor said that the budget 'was predicated on result oriented strategies.'
