MARK, OYINLOLA HEADLINE AMATEUR FIELD FOR PRESIDENT CUP

Senate President, David Alechenu Mark, will lead the charge as amateur golfers enter the fray today (Friday) in the ongoing President Golf Championship at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja sponsored by Globacom.

The week-long event got underway on Tuesday with over 100 professional golfers vying for the Lion share of the plum N10 million win-stake.

As the professionals hole out today after a pulsating 72-round game, more amateur players are getting into Abuja to compete in their 36-hole event with Mark performing the ceremonial tee-off.

The amateur event, which ends Sunday, will have in attendance, top amateur players including President of the Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF), Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, IBB Club Board of Trustees member, Gen. IBM Haruna, former secretary to government of the federation (SGF), Babangana Kingibe and Director General of the Nigeria Tourism Development Commission (NTDC), Otunba Olusegun Runsewe.

According to Director, Events and Sponsorship of Globacom, Bode Opeseitan, all winners  from the professional and amateur ranks will recieve their prizes at an elaborate event at Sheraton Hotel on Sunday, 18 December.

He added that the prize presentation ceremony will be another great spectacle on its own as the  trademark Laffta Fest will be incorporated into it to heighten the entertainment value of the closing ceremony.

This is the first time the tourney is taking place at the prestigious IBB Golf club.
