Love Gone Sour: Popular Nollywood Actor Sued By Lover Over N15m Fraud

Popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke would probably be cursing the day he first met Abuja based society lady, Habiba Abubakar, as he is currently facing legal issues over an alleged N15 million fraud suit slammed against him by the woman.   Huhuonline.com http://huhuonline.com/ learnt that Jim had been dating Habiba for quite some time, giving the woman the belief that it would lead to marriage, but the popular actor, who had stared in several movies, reportedly dumped her after she had invested a whooping N15 million in his business.  

  But Habiba, according to one of her friends, had tried severally to bring the relationship back to life, but to no avail. She then swore to ensure that the actor pay dearly for his action.  

  Habiba, according to sources then contacted the police through a petition to the Inspector General of Police , Hafiz Ringim, and reported a case of fraud against him. The police, after what a source described as a thorough investigation got him arrested and charged him before an Abuja Chief Magistrate's Court for receiving the amount under false pretence.  

  Jim, who recently acquired some cars running into millions of naira, was accused of receiving the amount from Habiba after convincing her she would own 15 per cent equity shares in his company, Untamed Records Ltd.  

  Police Prosecutor, Mr Chijoke Okezie, told the court headed by Chief Magistrate Okeagu Azubike that one Habiba Abubakar wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police (IG) to investigate the fraud.  

  According to him, the police discovered that the said amount was actually paid into the actor's Oceanic bank account with number 00500173691 , but that he rather than invest it in the business as agreed, he converted the money into personal use. He is now charged with a criminal breach of trust, criminal force, assault, cheating and criminal misappropriation which contravenes sections 312,265,322 397 and 309 of the Penal Code.  

   Relating the story further, the Police Prosecutor said the woman had to contact the Police after she was beaten by Jim because she asked for her money. He further said the actor threatened to kill her if she ever confronted him over the issue.
