SAN FRANCISCO, October 06, (THEWILL) – Three former State Governors have been detained by Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Otunba Gbenga Daniel (Ogun State), Prince Adebayo Christopher Alao-Akala (Oyo State) and Mr. Akwe Doma (Nasarawa State) were arrested Thursday by operatives of the agency, EFCC spokesman Mr. Femi Babafemi told THEWILL on Thursday in a conference call.

Babafemi said they were being held on various charges of fraud perpetrated during their terms in office, but was not specific on when the men would be charged to court.

While Daniel and Alao-Akala are presently being detained in the Lagos facility of the agency, Doma is being held in Abuja. No prior invitations were issued the former governors, another source told THEWILL.

“We took them by surprise. Only Daniel got hint that were coming for him so he drove himself to our office to face,” the source said.
