MINISTER MEETS ASUU

Barring any last minute changes, the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa'i, will hold a crucial meeting with Vice-Chancellors of Federal Universities in Abuja, on Wednesday (today).

The agenda of the proposed meeting is being kept under wraps as journalists were not invited to cover the event.

However, our correspondent gathered that the threat by the Academic Staff Union of Universities to shut down universities is top on the agenda.

A source within the ministry confided in our correspondent on Tuesday that the meeting was part of 'last ditch efforts' to forestall the looming nationwide ASUU strike.
