EXPLOSION ROCKS ANGWA RIMI IN JOS

An explosion which occurred close to the house of an Islamic leader at the weekend  caused panic in the Angwa Rimi area of Jos.

An  eyewitness disclosed that an explosive device, planted in a groundnut oil tin kept close to the house of Sheikh Saidu Hassan Jingir, deputy to Shiekh Yahaya Jingir, leader of the Izala group exploded at about 11.30pm last Saturday evening.

Though no life was lost and nobody was reported wounded, the explosion was said to have shattered the windscreen of a taxi parked close to the scene.

Daily Sun gathered that men of  the bomb disposal unit of the Nigerian police had been dispatched to the area to carry out thorough investigation.

Though the source of the explosion remained unknown,  Daily Sun learnt that a man was spotted running away from the place where the explosion was deposited just before it went off.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Apev Jacob, who confirmed that there was an explosive planted in the area said investigation was still ongoing .
