ABUJA, July 26, (THEWILL) - The American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola has won the Distinguished Leadership Award in Educational Excellence by the African Leadership magazine, based in the United Kingdom.

The African Leadership magazine is a pan-African publication with readership that cuts across Africa, Europe, Middle East and the United States.

Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer of the magazine, Mr. Ken Giami stated in a letter to the President of the university, Dr. Margee Ensign that the choice of AUN for the award followed the significant role played by the university “in revolutionising tertiary educational system in Nigeria through best international academic practice.”

According to the letter, AUN will be honoured and decorated as winner and recipient of this novel award in a ceremony that will host the cream of the London and African political and business community.

“The investiture shall be bestowed on you alongside other distinguished awardees at the prestigious African Leadership Awards dinner, climax of the African Business Leadership Conference on August 1st, 2011,” Giami said.

The theme of the event is "Bequeathing a Legacy of Economic Development in Africa through Private Sector Mobilization.''
