AKURE-GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State yesterday said regional integration devoid of politics would accelerate economic development of the South West part of the country. Dr Mimiko spoke while addressing visiting representatives of Obas-in-Council from Lagos State during a courtesy call on him in his office.

According to him, 'I believe that our integration should principally, for it to endure, be based on ideas. We are a people with the same basic language, we are a people that are culturally harmonious, a typical Oyo man, Ondo man, Ekiti man, Lagos man, in terms of their views and aspirations, and they are the same.

as farmers get N42m boost Fadama boost
NO fewer than 142 Fadama groups and 14 Fadama communities in Ondo State will benefit from the N42 million to be disbursed under the Fadama III project in the state.

The State Project Coordinator for Fadam III, Mrs. Beatrice Adefulire, said in Akure that about 260 groups had benefited from the scheme.

Adefulire noted that the N42 million grants was being released to the farmers to enable them benefit maximally from the project.

She explained that Fadama III that started in 2004 with the state participating was aimed at increasing the income of Fadama land and water resources on sustainable basis.

The Coordinator said the project was also conceived to reduce poverty among the farmers and also increase the economic base of the communities.
