President Goodluck Jonathan's Wife Appoints Hope Democratic Party(HDP) Deputy Governorship Candidate to Head South-South Women in Politics Project
As Rivers State Politics Gets National Shake-Up, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo, HDP Rivers State Governorship Candidate, says he Shares Common belief with President Goodluck Jonathan's wife.
This assertion follows President Goodluck Jonathan's wife; Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan who a few days ago picked the representative for her project: the South-South Women in Politics from the Hope Democratic Party (HDP), which is fighting to replace PDP at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Princess Marian Tolofari (JP) – the Deputy Governorship Candidate of Hope Democratic Party (HDP) was recently named by HDP Governorship Candidate, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo as his running mate on the Hope Democratic Party ticket. Shortly afterwards, the wife of President, Mrs. Patience Goodluck Jonathan picked Princess Tolofari from a list of four contenders for the position on the basis of merit.
What importance one may attach to a choice outside the President's party would depend on each individual understanding of political action. One analyst said the wife of President Jonathan wants a friendly working relationship with the next occupant of Government House, Port Harcourt.
Speaking in an interview with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa on arrival from a meeting with the first lady in Abuja, Princesss Tolofari, who was a former diplomat working with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said freedom, equality and justice were and are still the common objectives, the common aspiration of Nigerian women.
Princess Tolofari said the South-South Women in Politics is the project of the First Lady aimed to enhance women participation in politics, by design public service.
Meanwhile, HDP Governorship Candidate, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo commended First Lady Patience Goodluck Jonathan for her commitment to integrate women in Nigerian politics, saying that in this sense: “ I share common belief with President Goodluck Jonathan's wife. The challenges of further political integration of Nigerian women in the democratic process still lie ahead,” said Dr. Diigbo
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the husband of the first lady has also worked with the Hope Democratic Party Governorship Candidate, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo in a peace initiative project. According to a biographical write-up on Dr. Goodluck Jonathan widely publicized throughout the world, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo is used as a reference point for President Jonathan's accomplishments as former Vice President of Nigeria.
Records have it that Dr. Goodluck Diigbo defended Dr. Goodluck Jonathan in advocacy papers meant to pave way for his nomination as PDP Presidential Candidate against those that opposed his stepping over the PDP zoning politics.
The recent of appointment of Princess Tolofari seems to be sealing a relationship that might create cordial relationship between President Jonathan, First Lady Patience Goodluck Jonathan, Dr. Goodluck Diigbo and Princess Marian Tolofari if they are eventually elected in the 2011 General Elections into their respective offices.
