Kaduna State Governor, Ibrahim Patrick Yakowa, has promised to give his full support to Kaduna United FC in its campaign to win the CAF Confederation Cup this football season.

The governor, who is happy with the current exploits of the state-owned club, pledged to support Kaduna United after it defeated the Foullah Edifice of Chad 2-0 last Sunday in a Confederation Cup encounter at the Kaduna Township Stadium.

'I'm highly impressed with the performance of my team (Kaduna United) and my promise is that we will give them all the needed support to ensure they win this year's Confederation Cup for the country,' Gov. Yakowa promised.

Meanwhile, after the victory dinner party with Kaduna United, club Chairman, Hon. Sabo Mohammed Babayaro, thanked God for the result of the match against the Chadian team, adding that the second leg would be easy for them since his technical crew had studied their opponents very well. 'We thank God for beaten Foullah Edifice of Chad 2-0 in a continental tournament. The result has given us an edge as we prepare for the second leg. But we won't underrate them in any way.

'Our joy is that we have known our opponents. We can work with that by making sure that when we go for the second leg, we will win them convincingly on their home soil.'

Babayaro added: 'This is our first continental experience. More than 90 per cent of our players only played their first international competition with the match against the Chadian team, some of them came straight from amateur clubs to play in this kind of match. So, I think the technical crew and the players deserve commendation.'

He also thanked the Kaduna State government for standing solidly behind his club, even as he thanked the supporters of the club for their good conduct during and after the match.
