SALAMI, TINUBU’S MEN PHONE SCAM MESSY, SCANDALOUS - GROUP

The Elections Transparency Group (ETG) has described as messy and scandalous the published telephone interaction among the President of the Court of Appeal (CPA), Justice Isa Ayo Salami, chieftains of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the party's lawyers while the Osun and Ekiti States Governorship Appeal cases were on.

The group called on the National Judicial Council (NJC), the Supreme Court and other relevant government agencies to expedite actions on the investigation of the petitions arising from the Ekiti and Osun States governorship appeal cases with a view to correcting any act of injustice or crime arising therefrom.

ETG, in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Kazeem Adekunle said; “time has come for the nation's judiciary to be saved from corrupt politicians who have now found allies in the bench.”

The group said; “We read in the Nigerian Compass newspaper of today, the report on the call log, revealing telephone conversations among Justice Isa Ayo Salami, Justice Adamu Jauro and other justices of the Appeal court that handled the Osun and Ekiti States Governorship Appeal cases with chieftains of the ACN and their lawyers.

“Our first reaction was waoh, this is scandalous and messy!

“It is messy and scandalous in the sense that these were the same people, who have presented themselves to Nigerians as saints and lovers of rule of law.

“If the same people are the ones involved in this kind of scandalous act, then we are in trouble in this country!”

Calling on the NJC to conduct thorough investigation into the allegations, ETG said; “The NJC and the apex court reserve the rights to right all the injustice perpetrated by Justice Salami and his 'trusted' men in the Appeal Court on the Ekiti and Osun governorship election cases.

“Therefore, investigation of the allegations raised by former governor of Ekiti State, Chief Segun Oni and the Osun State PDP must be thoroughly conducted without further delay.

“This will go a long way in bringing the most desired sanity into the judicial system in particular and the entire country.”
