MARK UPGRADES OTURKPO GOLF COURSE

OTUKPO Golf and Country Club, Benue State, has been upgraded to the standard of international golf course in the West African sub-region.

Senate President, David Mark, who did the upgrading, said at the event that his passion for golf and youth emancipation has again been brought to bear by the upgrading of the nine brown courses in Oturkpo Golf and Country Club into green.

He expressed joy that golfers at the course could now compete favourably with counterparts across the country and even extend to the West African sub-region with the latest facilities in the golf course.

Mark, however, encouraged youths in the country to empower themselves in the game of golf, saying: 'On our own part, we have made available golf course, golf kits and relevant training to any intending golfer; all you need to do is to register and registration is also free.

'This is the only golf course in the country with free registration and also open to the public for free. This is par of our resolve to engage our young ones for them to eschew any form of violence in its totality.'

Earlier, captain of the club, Owoicho Abel, said he was delighted by Mark's gesture in realising their dreams. He noted that the facilities would further put Oturkpo course in a better stead among its peers, stating: 'We shall ever be grateful to the Senate President, he has once again put smile on our faces.'
