It was an evening of fun and excitement as LG Electronics, global and regional leader in home appliances and electronic goods, gathered together all its dealers in air-conditioning equipment for an evening of relaxation and entertainment.

The event, which took place at the Carliza Guest House in the Apapa area of Lagos on April 13, 2008, was LG's way of rewarding its dealers for their unrelenting and continuous support of the brand.

The surprise of the day was the unexpected appearance of ace comedian, Basketmouth, who came in to provide comic relief for the dealers. Basketmouth in his usual fashion had all the dealers reeling with laughter as he threw out joke after joke to the delight of the audience.

Even the top management of LG Electronics was not spared from his witty humour as he also threw some jabs their way. Basketmouth regaled the audience for over an hour with his rib-cracking jokes and experiences he had had with members of the opposite sex.

Mr. Peter KO, the General Manager of the Air-conditioning department, speaking at the event, said “LG has always recognised that part of its success in Nigeria was due to the efforts of these dealers in recognising that LG products stood head and shoulders above other brands and recommending them to their customers. That is why we decided to show appreciation by treating them to this little gathering.”

There were also performances by the DIVX crew, an upcoming dance group that had even the expatriate guests applauding their intricate dance moves. The lead dancer of the group, who also doubles as a musician, was also on hand to belt out some tracks from his yet-to-be-released album.

One of the dealers, Mr. Peter Okechukwu, who came in from Owerri, commended LG Electronics for making his night a fun-filled and memorable one. He said, “I have always been watching Basketmouth on television, but this is going to be my first time of seeing him live in person. I thank LG Electronics for giving me this opportunity and encourage them to keep up their good works and keep producing quality products for the Nigerian market.”

He also thanked LG for the opportunity to meet the other dealers from other areas of Nigeria because this, he said, was another way for him to educate himself on how his colleagues deal with the challenges peculiar to their market environment and also to learn new and innovative ways of making his business grow.
