Nigeria coach Samson Siasia flew out to Europe on Thursday night to meet with a number of his charges, and will also hold discussions with Sunderland defender Nedum Onuoha.

On his way to the Abuja airport on Thursday afternoon to fly to Lagos where he boarded a British Airways aircraft to London, Siasia said: 'I intend to discuss with Nedum (Onuoha) and see what is possible. I believe he will commit to Nigeria'.

The former Manchester City ace was in the hat for the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals but turned down Coach Lars Lagerback's approach late on as he preferred to sort out his club future.

On a couple of other occasions, Onuoha has failed to honour invitation to the Nigeria camp, fuelling feelings that he does not want to play for his country of birth. But Siasia says he is getting positive signals and will convince the versatile defender to put on the green white green.

'We'll see what happens, but I am positive. I will watch him when Sunderland play Bolton in the English Premiership on Saturday, and we will hold talks after the match'.
