BAYELSA GOVT CONDEMNS ATTACK ON ALAIBE'S HOME

By NBF News

The Bayelsa State Government has condemned in strong words the attack on the country home of Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Ndutimi Alaibe.

The Deputy Governor, Mr. Werinipre Seibarugu, who stated this when he paid a visit to inspect the level of damage, tasked the security agents to arrest those involved in the attack.  Seibarugu, accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Sam Ogbuku said though the attackers had used dynamite to gain entrance into the compound, the action showed those involved were from the state and should be identified and prosecuted.

According to him, Governor Timipre Sylva and the entire people of Bayelsa were shocked by what he called the 'barbaric attack', noting that it was a sad moment in the history of Bayelsa. He said: 'The people of the state are disappointed by the act.

The whole state condemned the act. I don't even know what the mission of the attackers is. By what was done here, it has shown that many prominent indigenes may be discouraged from developing their home community. This is not the first time of such criminal act, we have to look at it seriously.'

Seibarugu maintained that those who carried out the attack were Bayelsans and challenged security agents to expose them. 'If you look at the way it was done, they searched for money. What they should have realised is that nobody will keep money at home.
