KAITA RETURNS AS EGUAVOEN CALLS 20 FOR IRAN FRIENDLY, YOBO DROPPED

After being dropped for his unsportsmanly conduct that cost Nigeria a win at the World Cup in South Africa, Sani Kaita has been named in the 20-man list for the international friendly match against Iran on November 17, 2010.

The list signed by acting head coach of the Super Eagles, Austin Eguavoen, is made up of seven home and 13 foreign-based players. The home-based players are expected to report to camp one week to the encounter, while the foreign-based players are expected to fly straight to Teheren, the Iranian capital.

Those invited aside Sani Kaita are: Dele Aiyenugba, Bassey Akpan, Taiye Taiwo, Dele Adeleye, Mike Odibe, Chibuzor Okonkwo, Valentine Nwaebili, Emmanuel Anyanwu and Kano pillars' Sowemimo Wasiu. Others are: Kalu Uche, John Owoeri who has moved to Ismaily of Egypt, Saka Ayo, Eneji Otekpa and Ogude Fegor

The attack has Osaze Odemwingie, Obinna Nsofor, Ahmed Musa, Obafemi Martins and Edward Ofere of US Lecce of Italy.

Meanwhile, Deputy General Secretary of the NFF, Dr, Emmanuel Ikpeme, has expressed confidence in the ability of the squad as picked by Eguavoen to do well against Iran, adding that some top players like Mikel Obi and Vincent Enyeama asked to be exempted from the list, while the coach ommited Skipper Joseph Yobo, Ayila Yusuf, Chidi Odiah and Michael Eneramoh to give younger players the chance to excel.
