England international and former Manchester City right-back, Kyle Walker, has signed a two-year contract with newly-promoted Premier League side Burnley. The 35-year-old joins the Clarets as a free agent following the expiration of his contract at City and a short loan spell at AC Milan, where he featured in 11 Serie A matches.

Walker arrives with an illustrious career, having made over 400 Premier League appearances and winning six league titles, two FA Cups, a Champions League, and a Club World Cup. During his time under Pep Guardiola, he became a vital part of City’s treble-winning side in the 2022–23 season.

His move to Burnley is understood to be a smart acquisition, both financially and in terms of experience. The Clarets, managed by former teammate Scott Parker, are looking to build a competitive squad ahead of their return to the top flight, and Walker is the fifth signing of the summer transfer window.

Speaking on the move, Walker said: “When I spoke to Scott and heard about his plans, it was an opportunity I jumped at. I’m excited to add my experience and quality to what looks like an exciting squad.”

Walker’s unveiling was met with widespread praise as Burnley creatively announced his signing with a video inspired by Lionel Richie’s hit song “Hello,” sparking viral reactions across social media.

The veteran defender’s experience will be a major asset to Burnley’s backline as they prepare for the new season. With 96 England caps to his name, Walker is also expected to push for a spot in the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Burnley begin their pre-season preparations on July 26 and open their Premier League campaign against Tottenham on August 16.
