Chelle Unveils 35-Man Provisional Squad for CHAN 2025
Super Eagles B coach, Éric Chelle, has unveiled a 35-man provisional squad for the upcoming 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will take place in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The tournament is reserved for players plying their trade in domestic leagues.
The provisional list features some of the brightest talents in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with a strong representation across all departments. Among the goalkeepers invited are Henry Ani, Kayode Bankole, Lawal Mustapha, Ebenezer Harcourt, and Nurudeen Badmus.
In defence, Chelle called up experienced heads like Junior Nduka, who also captains the squad, alongside Ifeanyi Onyebuchi, Kabiru Mohammed, Waliu Ojewole, Sodiq Ismaila, and Stephen Manyo Egbe. The midfield is equally packed with creativity and steel, including players such as Haddi Haruna, Papa Daniel Mustapha, Saviour Isaac, and Adam Aminu.
Notably, the forward line features NPFL top scorer Anas Yusuf, as well as Godwin Obaje, Adamu Abubakar, Sunday Megwo, and others. The blend of youth and experience is seen as a deliberate strategy to build a competitive side capable of going far in the tournament.
Coach Chelle has instructed all selected players to report to camp at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne, Ogun State. They are expected to arrive with their international passports and club licenses for verification.
Chelle’s squad will face a tough challenge in Group D, where Nigeria has been drawn alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo.
“The goal is to build a formidable team from home-based talents who can stand toe-to-toe with Africa’s best,” Chelle said while addressing reporters.
The final squad will be trimmed before the tournament kicks off later this year. Expectations are high as the team prepares to reclaim continental glory.
