Chelsea Confirms £52m Signing Of Jamie Bynoe-Gittens From Dortmund

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has officially joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in a transfer worth £48.5 million plus an additional £3.5 million in potential add-ons. The 19-year-old winger becomes one of the club’s biggest signings of the summer as Enzo Maresca begins to reshape his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.
Bynoe-Gittens, who has drawn comparisons to fellow former Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, is known for his explosive pace, technical dribbling, and creativity on the flanks. He spent four years at Borussia Dortmund, making 38 senior appearances and scoring six goals, while also featuring prominently for England at youth level, including the U21s.
Chelsea’s interest in Bynoe-Gittens dates back to early 2024, and the Blues accelerated talks following his impressive displays in both domestic and European competitions last season. He was part of the Dortmund squad that reached the UEFA Champions League final, coming off the bench in their clash with Real Madrid at Wembley.
The deal includes a sell-on clause for Dortmund, showing their belief in the player’s long-term value. Bynoe-Gittens has signed a long-term contract with Chelsea until 2032, underlining the club’s faith in his development and potential. Despite his young age, he is expected to compete for a first-team spot immediately and add depth to Chelsea's attacking options, especially on the left wing.
Speaking after the move, Bynoe-Gittens said he was excited to begin a new chapter in his career and help Chelsea compete for trophies. “It’s a massive club with a big history and ambition,” he said. “I’m ready for the challenge.”
This transfer reflects Chelsea’s ongoing commitment to investing in youth talent and building a dynamic squad for the future, following similar signings of emerging players in recent windows.
