PSG Knock Out Arsenal, Set Up UCL Final Clash with Inter Milan
Paris Saint-Germain booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final after defeating Arsenal 2-1 in the second leg of their semi-final clash on Wednesday night.
Coming into the match at Parc des Princes with a narrow 1-0 lead from the first leg at the Emirates Stadium, PSG were determined to finish the job in front of their home fans. Despite an early push from Arsenal, including a key chance that was expertly denied by Gianluigi Donnarumma, the French champions maintained their composure.
Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring before halftime, slotting past David Raya to double PSG’s aggregate lead. In the second half, Achraf Hakimi added a superb second goal, curling the ball into the net to effectively seal the tie. Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal a glimmer of hope with a late consolation goal, but it was not enough to mount a comeback, as the Gunners crashed out of the competition.
Luis Enrique’s men progress to the final with a 3-1 aggregate win, marking a significant achievement for a club desperate to claim their first Champions League title. They will now face Inter Milan, who edged past Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in an epic two-legged tie.
The final is scheduled for May 31 in Munich, where PSG will aim to make history.
Arsenal’s elimination ends their impressive European run and shifts their focus back to domestic matters. Despite their efforts, Mikel Arteta’s side fell short against a more clinical and composed PSG outfit.
This will be PSG’s second Champions League final in four years, and they’ll be hoping to go one step further this time.
