Chelsea Held By Ipswich In Thrilling 2-2 Draw At Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s hopes of securing a top-four Premier League finish suffered a setback after a spirited 2-2 draw against struggling Ipswich Town at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Despite dominating early proceedings, the Blues found themselves trailing 2-0 at halftime, courtesy of first-half goals from Julio Enciso and Ben Johnson.

Enciso struck first in the 19th minute, finishing off a fine cross from Johnson, before the duo switched roles just 12 minutes later, with Enciso turning provider as Johnson headed in Ipswich’s second. Chelsea were shell-shocked and needed a big response in the second half.

Just seconds after the restart, the Blues found a lifeline through an unfortunate own goal by Ipswich’s Axel Tuanzebe.

Chelsea pressed hard for an equaliser, with chances falling to Pedro Neto and Trevor Chalobah, but Ipswich defended resiliently.

Substitute Jadon Sancho proved to be the game-changer. With ten minutes left, the on-loan winger from Manchester United curled in a stunning strike from a short-corner routine, leveling the scores and redeeming himself in front of the home fans.

It was Sancho’s third league goal of the season and a much-needed moment of brilliance.

Despite the comeback, Chelsea remain fifth in the table, now three points behind third-placed Nottingham Forest. Ipswich, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone, but their performance without star striker Liam Delap offers hope for survival.

With the race for Champions League spots tightening, Chelsea must now regroup quickly as they approach a crucial run-in, while Ipswich will take heart from their resilience against one of the league's giants.
