Bayern Munich missed the chance to extend their lead at the top of the Bundesliga as they were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.

The match saw dramatic moments and several changes in momentum, leaving both teams with mixed feelings.

Bayern dominated the first half but failed to break through Dortmund's defense, with Harry Kane being thwarted twice by goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Despite the hosts’ pressure, it was Dortmund who took the lead early in the second half.

Maximilian Beier scored with a header through Bayern’s goalkeeper Jonas Urbig’s legs from Dortmund's first shot on target.

Bayern responded with two quick-fire goals. Serge Gnabry, introduced as a substitute, played a pivotal role, assisting Raphael Guerreiro’s equalizer before scoring himself, curling a superb shot past Kobel to give Bayern the lead.

However, Dortmund fought back and secured a point when Waldemar Anton scored after an acrobatic effort by Serhou Guirassy was saved, rebounding into his path.

The match ended with both teams having chances to win, but Pascal Gross and Michael Olise failed to capitalize for Bayern and Dortmund, respectively.

The draw leaves Bayern still six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with five matches remaining.

Despite the setback, Vincent Kompany’s side is in a strong position, while Dortmund, now eight points behind the Champions League spots, will need to focus on overturning their 4-0 deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League.
