Usyk Vs Fury Rematch: Bernard Hopkins Backs Usyk To Throw Fury
American successful boxer of the past three decades, Bernard Hopkins has added his scents on the probable outcome of the Usyk and Fury rematch happening soon. The American boxer after highlighting the technical differences between the two boxers, ignored Tyson Fury and threw his weight on Usyk to come out triumph in the match.
Usyk versus Fury rematch which is scheduled to happen by December 21 resonates two different standpoints for the boxers - it's both a fight of confirmation and defence of title; and also a fight for avenge and redefinition of personality. The fight has more to do about revalidation of their significance to the world.
Usyk wowed the world in May 2024 when he defeated Tyson Fury in their first encounter. The Ukrainian boxer destroyed Fury's unbeaten streak in a twelve round bout to claim the undisputed champion title. Usyk won by a split decision.
Fury requested a rematch to avenge his defeat and redefine his personality as the greatest boxer of all time and also to reclaim his title. However, Usyk prides himself as the unbeatable fighter who would in any time repeat what he did to Fury.
Speaking on the approaching rematch, Bernard Hopkins maintained that Usyk has got everything to size and throw Fury. He argued that the undisputed champion has the requisite IQ that fury would not keep up and withstand.
"I think the smaller guy is really the big guy in heart and the big guy in talent," said Hopkins when speaking to Fight Hub TV .
"I believe Usyk has his number, and I believe that he’s not a big heavyweight, which I think helps him in this particular fight.
"I just think he has the IQ that Tyson Fury won’t be able to keep up and withstand as time or rounds go on. I like Usyk, possibly by stoppage late, and not from a punch, I think it will just be a mercy call by the referee."
