Brazil's Elite Heavyweight Boxer, Jose Adilson  Dies At 66

Brazil's most renowned boxer, José Adilson Rodrigues dos Santos, otherwise know as Maguila has reportedly to passed away at the age of 66 in São Paulo on Thursday 25 October 2024.

Maguila is arguably Brazil’s greatest heavyweight boxer and one of the most important boxers in South American history. The news about his death was confirmed by his wife, Irani Pinheiro, during an interview with the TV channel "Record."

Report from Footboom claimed that the elite boxer died at the age of 66 after suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy for 11 years. He was diagnosed of traumatic encephalopathy also known as punch-drunk syndrome since 2013 and finally died in 2024.

Maguila's had an amazing boxing career. He barely recorded lose in his many professional fights. Out of his 85 matches spanning from 1983 to 2000, Maguila recorded 77 wins out of which 6 were knockouts, 7 losses, and 1 draw.

He featured in several challenging bout with notable heavyweight boxers like James "Bonecrusher" Smith (win), Evander Holyfield, and George Foreman (losses) among others.
