VP Sambo canvases support for Akpabio

Nigeria's Vice President, Alhaji Mohammed Namadi Sambo has called on Akwa Ibom people to continue to support and vote for Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio in 2011, in order to further the actualization of good governance in the South-south region.

 
Sambo, on a day working visit to Akwa Ibom State on Sept 13, 2010,, said there is no doubt that if given more support, Akpabio's goodluck would translate into more dividends for the people of the state.

 
The Vice |President, who flagged –off the construction fo Nung Udoe-Uyo Expressway, inaugurated the fire-fighting equipment as well as modern waste disposal machines, among other facilities, said with what he had witnessed in Akwa Ibom State, the people of the state made the right decision by voting Akpabio

 
“There is no doubt that God has given goodluck to the people of Akwa |Ibom. I call on you, Akwa Ibom people to support and encourage Governor Akpabio to continue to leave goodluck on you”,he added.

Sambo lauded the governor for the unprecedented development of the state and pledged the Federal Government's determination to assist the state in some areas of needs.

 
He specifically said the Federal Government had last week approved some funds for the state to help solve some environmental problems

 
“Akwas Ibom people should ensure the continuity of Governor Godswill Akpabio for you to enjoy more dividends of democracy”, Sambo said.

 
The VP, who described his visit to Akwa Ibom as “homecoming”, as he was a council member of the University of Uyo, confessed that he was confused when he arrived in the state earlier in the day, owing to the uncommon transformation recorded by  Akpabio government.

 
“Right from the airport, I witnessed a great transformation of the state. In fact, I was confused because Uyo is no longer the Uyo I used to know. Akwa Ibom is lucky to have a governor like Chief Godswill Akpabio”, he added.

 
On President Goodluck Jonathan, the VP enumerated the East-West Road, the approval of Federal University of Petroleum, focus on improved power generation and distribution, etc as some of the achievements of the Federal Government.

 
Consequently, he thanked the South-south people for “taking the wide decision of supporting Goodluck Jonathan for president in 2011”.
