Int’l Friendlies: Japan Thrash Ghana 4-0
Super Falcons group opponents at the 2024 Paris Olympic games, Japan thrashed 10-player Ghana 4-0 in a friendly game played in Kanazawa on Saturday.
The game is part of Japan’s preparation for their group fixtures against Nigeria, Brazil and Spain, at his summer’s Paris Olympics.
Japan has now won three consecutive friendly games, having defeated New Zealand 2-0 and 4-1 in May and June respectively.
Ghana, who had a player sent off in the 23rd minute, managed to go into the halftime break goalless.
But their resilience was finally broken as Mina Tanaka gave Japan the lead in the 51st minute, while Maika Hamano made it 2-0 on 65 minutes.
In the 67th minute Aoba Fujino added the third goal before Riko Ueki completed the rout by netting the fourth goal on 80 minutes.
Japan will open their campaign at the Olympics against women’s World Cup champions Spain July 25 and face Brazil July 28.
