JOS, August 29, (THEWILL) - Plateau State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) zonal commandant, Mr. Bake Ayuba Kwaga has said the vision 2020:20 of the federal would only be a mere jamboree if the nation continues to lose a huge number of it’s productive youths to road accidents.

Speaking at the 2010 Sectoral Workshop for Special Marshals, Kwaga urged the Marshals to design more creative, positive and innovative ways of engaging the youths to both imbibe the road safety culture and to also spread the message across.

The workshop which had it theme "Decade of action: Inculcating Road Safety Culture In the Nigerian Child", Kwaga said the workshop was timely as it targeted the next generation of both drivers and passengers alike.

According to him, the inculcation of safety consciousness in the minds of the youths through education and practical terms will go a long way in reducing the rate of child morality and also assist in achieving the set goals.

He added that FRSC is poised to tackle the increasing number of road accidents in Nigeria but the support of the Special Marshal which is the integral part of the three tiers of the corps will be greatly involved in making the target a successful one.

Kwaga, however, challenged the Special Marshals to uphold the synergy and to set up for the challenges of securing the lives of the young ones as by doing so the nation will be a better place for all to live.

The commandant was optimistic that as the end of the workshop the Special Marshals will be able to come up with a well designed strategy that will help the corps marshals towards inculcating an explicit, concise and sustainable road safety culture in Nigerian child.
