LaLiga: Alonso to leave Barcelona in July

Defender Marcos Alonso is reportedly leaving Barcelona to join Atletico Madrid as a free agent in the summer transfer window.

The 33-year-old’s current contract at the Catalan club is set to expire at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Alonso has had difficulty getting regular minutes at the Catalan club, hence it is believed he won’t be extending his stay with the LaLiga giants.

According to reports, Alonso will sign a free agent contract with Atletico this summer following his contract expiration at Barca.

Barca are hoping to add fresh faces to their current squad and they can only do that by selling off players to reduce their wage bill.
