ABUJA, August 06, (THEWILL) - The Action Congress (AC) has warned against the antics of fifth columnists and overzealous party members who may want to resort to violence at the party's Convention in Lagos on Monday.

In a statement issued in Lagos by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohamed, the party also advised aspirants who may want to use the convention to showcase their aspirations and campaigns to ensure that their supporters do not play into the hands of troublemakers by being unruly.

It said all members, especially aspirants who may want to come with their supporters, should ensure orderliness, decency and decorum all through the duration of the convention, warning that aspirants who fail to ensure that their supporters act peacefully risk disqualification.

''Our party is known for peace and we do not expect anything less at our convention on Monday. We expect a carnival-like atmosphere to prevail at the venue. We must repudiate the antics of infiltrators who may be working in collusion with parties that are known for violence,'' the party said.

AC reiterated that its National Convention 2010 would, among others, consider and approve a change of name and amendment to the party's constitution, consider and approve the amendment of the party's manifesto as well as change of motto, emblem, flag and slogan.
